Bail-O-Matics

1 Gallon DS Bail-O-Matic New Wire Calibrate Feature

A "wire callibrate" function has been added to the DS Bail-O-Matic "Setup Screen." It gives access for the maintenance department to correct the servo wire feed's constant value, without requiring a laptop and programming software, as in the past.

1-gallon Bail-O-Matic-Improved Loop Forming Dies & Pivot Pins for .098” or 2.5mm Wire

Older style Loop Forming Dies used Pivot Screws that were prone to the thread of the screw bending or snapping off, if the machine parts and settings were not well maintained, resulting in wire jams. Sometimes the snapped off screw threads could not be removed from the curling die, and the die would have to be replaced. These breakages greatly reduced the life of the dies, and damaged other parts as well.

1-gallon DS Bailer Can Escapement Cylinder & Photo Eye Setup

To allow maximum throughput of containers through the DS Bail-O-Matic, the escapement cylinder needle valves, and photo eye positions must be set properly. The escapement cylinder speeds are controlled by the needle valve settings. The necessary can spacing is controlled by the photo eye positions.

1-Gallon Curling Die Repair

In many cases the Curling die is still usable by simply stoning or grinding the sharp ragged edge caused by the breakage so the wire does not catch. Bevel and radius the remaining material as indicated by the arrow to provide a smooth path for the wire to enter into the grooved portion of the Curling Die.

Excess wear of escapement assemblies, causing poor operation, resulting in can and label damage.

1-Gallon Bail-O-Matic Can Escapement Assembly Setup

  • 1. A can orienting to the ear rail after Escapement # 1, catches up to the prior can, and fails to continue to orient to the ear rail.
  • 2. A can releasing from Escapement #2, bumps into the can in the bailing station, causing it not to orient into position properly.
  • 3. Cans bunch up between Escapement #1 and Escapement #2.

1-Gallon DS Bailer Discharge Can Jam Photo Eye Brackets

An Issue relating to the Bail-O-Matic cycle speed and the mounting position of the discharge photoeye has been observed. Moving the photoeye toward the main plate enables the cycle to reset sooner, allowing the machine to index cans quicker.

Case Packers

LOSS OF CARTON-PULLING VACUUM (CASEPACKERS)

Loss of vacuum pull at the suction cups can be caused by extreme wear to the rigid sucker nipple. This can prevent the quick-disconnect’s auto-close feature from disengaging when the rigid sucker is inserted, and keep the disconnect sealed closed.

Casepackers Can Guide Hinge Mounting

Excess breakage and decreased service life of Can Guide Hinges, Springs, and Spring Clips. If the Can guide hinges are mounted in their higher position, although they appear to contain the cans well, when resting at the pushers before loading, they cause more violent action of the hinge & springs. This leads to a greatly decreased life, and is counter-productive to proper can orientation, and smooth case loading.

Labelers

Nip Cam & Pressure Roller Setup

  • 1. Pressure Roller Parallel Setting: Ensures equal nip of label with entire height of nip roller.
  • 2. Pressure Roller Depth Setting: Ensures adequate nip of label, while limiting abuse of pressure roller by nip cam.
  • 3. Nip Cam Stop Position Setting: Ensures nip cam stops in the open position, with the flat parallel to label travel.

Improved Exchange Bearing Pipe Assembly for Glue Rollers

  • 1. Significant improvements have been made to the Bearing Pipe. These improvements include; robust taper bearings, access for a bearing race puller, seal retaining screws, and a vent.
  • 2. An “EXCHANGE BEARING PIPE for LH GLUE ROLLER” assembly, and an “EXCHANGE BEARING PIPE for RH GLUE ROLLER” assembly, are now available for ease of changeout, & reduced downtime when repairing or rebuilding the assembly.
